EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
The Town of Thurmont and surrounding communities receive emergency medical services from the Thurmont Community Ambulance Service, Inc (Frederick County Station 30). This department is staffed 24/7 by a combination of career and volunteer emergency medical personnel located at 27 North Church Street. Station 30 houses multiple ambulances and Medic 30, an Advanced Life Support Medic Unit. The Special Operations units are housed at the complex on Strafford Drive and are utilized for off road wilderness and mountain rescue operations, mountain and off road fire suppression, and emergency medical services for special events. FIRE/RESCUE SERVICES
Fire and rescue services in Thurmont and the surrounding communities are provided by the Guardian Hose Company (Frederick County Station 10). This combination career/ volunteer department was organized in 1887 and is located at 21 North Church Street. Structural and wildland fire suppression, heavy rescue, and fire safety resources, are provided 24/7 by highly trained personnel and state of the art equipment and apparatus. In 2024, Engine 102 was upgraded to a Paramedic Engine, providing additional advanced life support services to the community. A wildland fire support trailer and an air unit trailer operate from Station 10 for specialized regional responses. POLICE SERVICES
The Thurmont Police Department provides 24/7 law enforcement and police services, code enforcement, K-9 operations, and criminal investigations in Thurmont. This highly trained police force initiated its inaugural School Resource Officer program in 2024, providing security, safety, and in person outreach programs to school students. The Town of Thurmont partners with Frederick County Emergency Management to provide an emergency notification service to our residents and visitors.
