Thurmont Thinks Pink
For National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Pink light bulbs are available at the town office for $1.00 which will go toward Thurmonts donation to the Hurwitz Fund at FMH. Think Pink€¯ during the month of October! Town residents and business owners can pick up a pink light bulb at the town office beginning Monday September 22nd between 8 AM and 4 PM. The cost of the bulb is $1.00 with all proceeds going to the Hurwitz Fund at FMH. On Wednesday October 1st, businesses and homes will officially light up the town with pink lights at 8:00 PM. Everyone is asked to have their pink lights turned on each night during the month of October from 8PM until 10PM.
Town of Thurmont offices and buildings will be illuminated with pink floodlights.

Early Voting at the Regional Library
The Thurmont Regional Library will  serve as an early voting site for the General Election
from October 23rd-30th from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm.

On Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 10:30am, a seminar regarding Fraud Prevention will be held at the Thurmont Senior Center.  All are welcome to attend to partake in the informative material being presented.

Discarded Needles/Syringes
 On a few occasions, Syringes/Needles have been found throughout the Town of Thurmont.  These items are very dangerous and pose a health risk to the public if handled improperly.  In the event you find a syringe/needle- DO NOT TOUCH!  Please contact the Thurmont Police Department at 301-600-2071 (Dispatcher).  An Officer will respond and dispose of the item properly.  Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in keeping our Community safe.

EAST MAIN STREET SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT
The sidewalk replacement project is scheduled to begin the week of July 28th. The project will begin near the Elementary School and proceed west on East Main Street. This State Highway Administration project will ultimately replace all sidewalks on East Main Street between Center Street and Lawyer Lane.

Annual Drinking Water Quality Report, Thurmont Water System

     The Town of Thurmont is pleased to present this year’s Annual Drinking Water Quality Report.  This report is designed to inform you about the quality and sources of the Town’s drinking water.  Our goal is to provide a safe and dependable supply of drinking water.  We work continually to improve our treatment process and to protect our water resources.  The drinking water provided by the Town of Thurmont during the past calendar year met all of the Environmental Protection Agency and the State of Maryland health standards for drinking water contaminants

Notice – The Town of Thurmont drinking water supply does not contain Fluoride. 
If you desire to receive Fluoride treatment, consult your dental care provider.

Please keep the Food Bank and Clothes Closet in mind.  Your contribution to these local organizations helps provide clothing and nourishment for many local families.

 Be sure to read the following information regarding
Yard Sales in the Town of Thurmont:

Residents are permitted 4 yard sales at one location per calendar year .  Yard sales during Colorfest require a permit and are not counted as one of the 4 permitted yard sales per calendar year.  Yard Sales are to be conducted between the hours of 7:00 a. m. and 6:00  p. m.  No signs are to be posted on Town property, traffic control signs, street signs, poles, posts, buildings or other structures.
 All signs are to be removed by 9 p.m. the last day of the yard sale.

Town meetings are held Tuesday evenings at 7:00pm in the meeting room of the town office.

Donations of nonperishable items for the Food Bank may be dropped off at
 the Town Office Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:00pm.
