NOTICE TO THURMONT RESIDENTS

Effective on September 1st, the recycling dumpster, as well as the oil recycling station will both be open in their new location next to the Thurmont Regional Library, adjacent to the Town of Thurmont Electric Substation at 70 East Moser Road.  To access the recycling center follow the roadway to the right of the library and then turn right into the gravel lot.  This is the same general location where yard waste dropoff is located each month so all recycling opportunities will now be in the same location.  Signs will be in place to provide direction to drivers.  To help us maintain the site, we ask the following:

  • If the dumpster is full, please do not stack items outside of the dumpster.  Staff monitors the dumpster and notifies the contractor when it needs to be dumped.  If the dumpster is full, it will typically be picked up the next weekday.  The sign pictured below has been installed at the site and helps to let everyone know what items are acceptable for recycling.
  • Do not place oil containers on the ground.  Site contamination will result in the removal of the recycling station.
  • Treat the site respectfully so we can continue to provide this service to our residents.  Misuse of the site may cause the site to be closed and discontinued.  Security cameras are in place to help us monitor the site and identify anyone who misuses the recycling stations.

Thank you for your cooperation!
