ELECTRIC INTERUPTION NOTICE TO RESIDENTS & BUSINESSES
IN ORDER TO ENERGIZE THE NEW ELECTRIC LINE AT THE MOSER ROAD SUBSTATION,
THERE WILL BE A BRIEF POWER INTERRUPTION ON JANUARY 31, 2015.  THE POWER
INTERRUPTION WILL BE BETWEEN 6:00 AM AND 7:00 AM.  ALL RESIDENTS
AND BUSINESSES WILL BE AFFECTED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE FOLLOWING STREETS:
EYLER ROAD, APPLES CHURCH ROAD (BETWEEN POPLAR AVE. AND EYLER ROAD),
CARROLL STREET, TERBEN COURT, CODY DRIVE, LUTHER DRIVE, EASY STREET,
SPANGLER COURT, SPRINGER COURT, RADIO LANE, OLD BARN COURT, HOLSTEIN COURT,
AND BOUNDARY AVENUE.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE.


The following bids were received for the engineering and design
of a second football/lacrosse field at Eyler Road Park:

Nobis Engineering, Germantown, MD. - $18,500
KCI Technologies, Fulton, MD - $35,220.00
Greenman-Pedersen, Inc.,  Annapolis Junction, MD. - $48,500

You Are Invited!

The Thurmont Board of Commissioners invites everyone to attend the Grand Opening of the new Thurmont Municipal Offices at 615 East Main Street on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 12:00 noon until 4:00 pm.  Guests will have an opportuntiy to walk through the building for a behind the scenes tour of the new building.  There will be a dedication ceremony at 1:00 pm.
Refreshements will be served.

THE TOWN OF THURMONT ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES HAVE BEEN RELOCATED TO THE NEW MUNICIPAL OFFICE BUILDING AT  615 EAST MAIN STREET.  PHONE NUMBERS, E-MAIL ADDRESSES, AND ALL OTHER CONTACT INFORMATION REMAINS THE SAME.  OFFICE HOURS WILL REMAIN AS 8:00 AM UNTIL 4:00 PM MONDAY THRU FRIDAY.

Please keep the Food Bank and Clothes Closet in mind.  Your contribution to these local organizations helps provide clothing and nourishment for many local families.

NOTICE TO RESIDENTS
If you have had new sidewalk or a new driveway apron installed, please refrain from
using salt on the new concrete this winter.  The salt will damage the new concrete.
Non-corrosive ice melt compounds are recommended

Recycling Hours
Effective October 22, operational hours for the Recycling Collection Center behind the Town Office
 will be from 4PM until 10PM Monday through Friday and 7AM until 10PM on weekends.

Thurmont Police Department News

Discarded Needles/Syringes
 On a few occasions, Syringes/Needles have been found throughout the Town of Thurmont.  These items are very dangerous and pose a health risk to the public if handled improperly.  In the event you find a syringe/needle- DO NOT TOUCH!  Please contact the Thurmont Police Department at 301-600-2071 (Dispatcher).  An Officer will respond and dispose of the item properly.  Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in keeping our Community safe.

Annual Drinking Water Quality Report, Thurmont Water System

     The Town of Thurmont is pleased to present this year’s Annual Drinking Water Quality Report.  This report is designed to inform you about the quality and sources of the Town’s drinking water.  Our goal is to provide a safe and dependable supply of drinking water.  We work continually to improve our treatment process and to protect our water resources.  The drinking water provided by the Town of Thurmont during the past calendar year met all of the Environmental Protection Agency and the State of Maryland health standards for drinking water contaminants

If you desire to receive Fluoride treatment, consult your dental care provider.

 Be sure to read the following information regarding
Yard Sales in the Town of Thurmont:

Residents are permitted 4 yard sales at one location per calendar year .  Yard sales during Colorfest require a permit and are not counted as one of the 4 permitted yard sales per calendar year.  Yard Sales are to be conducted between the hours of 7:00 a. m. and 6:00  p. m.  No signs are to be posted on Town property, traffic control signs, street signs, poles, posts, buildings or other structures.
 All signs are to be removed by 9 p.m. the last day of the yard sale.

Items of interest:

Town meetings are held Tuesday evenings at 7:00pm in the meeting room of the town office.

Donations of nonperishable items for the Food Bank may be dropped off at
 the Town Office Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:00pm.
